Brake System

Your vehicle’s brake system applies frictional force to the wheels to slow or stop it. And that braking force is considerable. When you step on your brake pedal, you apply a stopping force ten times as powerful as the force that puts the vehicle in motion. The braking system can apply as much as 1,000 pounds of hydraulic pressure on each of the four brakes.

Service and Maintenance

The following inspections and maintenance procedures can help prevent potential brake problems and costly brake repairs. Check brake fluid level at every oil change. Replace fluid according to owner’s manual recommendations or as advised by a certified technician. Brake calipers, rotors and wheel cylinders should be checked at every brake inspection and serviced or replaced as required.

Signs of Wear

Chirping, grinding or squealing noise or difficulty stopping the vehicle.
